election 2008

i'm sitting in the jetBlue terminal at logan airport - - after i called stephen to explain the news of our court summons, he bought me a ticket to come to DC for the weekend and figure things out with his help (god he's an angel) - - and i'm listening to presidential campaign coverage on CNN.

this election is considerably different from the campaigns we covered while i was at the Guardian in 2004. this year, issues of education, healthcare and the economy are of paramount importance, though candidates seem to all agree that the most immediate item of concern is the ongoing war in Iraq. i need to pay more attention to the platforms of each individual candidate - i'm unclear as to whether any candidate is in favor of keeping troops overseas, or if they all promise to end the war upon election. i wonder how that will affect the economy?

more on that later, boarding now...
